Are you a beginner trying to figure out how to start your own home based computer business? If you are interested in a business that will provide you with a reliable, residual income, you need to learn about list building.
There are 6 basic steps to start an online business:
1. Pick Something To Sell
You can create your own product. If you’ve got an item that you can make, or an informational product you can write, or a video series you can produce, then let your creative juices flow and do it!
If you have an idea for a product but don’t know how to develop the idea yourself, you can pay someone to create a unique and original product for you.
If you don’t see yourself as the creative type, there are loads of products out there available for purchase (sometimes for free) that you can “re-brand” and sell as your own product. They are called Private Label Resale products, or products available with Master Resale Rights.
Lastly, you can become an affiliate marketer, which actually just means that you sell someone else’s product and receive a commission every time someone buys it because of your marketing efforts.
2. Create A List (Set up your autoresponder)
An autoresponder is vitally important to your online business. If you were to try and create your business without one, you would spend hours emailing list members on a daily basis.
An autoresponder will allow you to easily create an opt in form on your website, it will then collect e-mail addresses of visitors to your website, and finally, it will send automatic messages to people who sign up for your list.
This is the heart and soul of your business!
3. Create Your Website
This may sound like an impossible task to many of you, but I am here to tell you that anyone can do this! The most critical part of this step is making sure that you get the right training so that you can accomplish this task.
At the very least, your site needs to have a squeeze page with an opt-in form so that you can start building your list. After that, your site can be as big or as little as you would like it to be.
Alternatively, you can pay someone to create a site for you. It just depends on how much money you have to start your business.
4. Send Traffic
There are both free and paid methods to send traffic to your website. Some entrepreneurs with a home based computer business will use a mixture of both types of methods. However, it should be noted that many successful business owners use only free methods to send targeted traffic to their website.
Targeted traffic is the key here, because you want people who are interested in what you are selling to sign up for your list. Not every potential customer is a good customer!
5. Cultivate & Build Your List
When you cultivate your list, you sell them on you before you ask them to buy a product. You build a relationship with them, and recognize that they are real people looking for good information and products. They are NOT simply credit cards!!
In order to nurture your list, you need to be truly helpful. One very successful method for developing a high-converting list is to give them plenty of free and valuable information.
They need to know that you not only know what you are talking about, but that you are a normal person just like they are.
6. Recommend A Product To Buy
Finally, it is time to recommend the quality product that you chose back in step one. You now have the right people who are interested in your product on your list. You now have a fully functional home based computer business. Let your sales begin!
